Q&A with Robert Gwilt

Q&A with Robert Gwilt who returns to his final year at university after a year’s placement with ELFA

Q. What have you learnt and enjoyed most at ELFA?

I have really enjoyed the variety of work and level of responsibility I have been given during my time at ELFA, as well as the market conferences and events I have been able to attend. I’ve learnt how to analyse data critically and realise key trends, manage projects from start to finish, build relationships with senior professionals, and develop a much deeper understanding of key themes in leveraged finance. Being able to contribute to live industry initiatives has been exciting and rewarding.

Q. Are you considering Financial Services as a career?

I am keen to pursue a career in Private Credit, as the work I have done this year in this area interested me the most. This year has also been a great opportunity to see how the market fits together as a whole and stands me in good stead for pursuing a career in this industry.

Q. What work are you most proud of at ELFA?

Some specific projects come to mind, such as the Private Credit Committee’s Democratisation of Private Credit Panel and Governance Workshop on a Cyber Security Incident. It was rewarding to see these events through from idea to execution, and to receive positive feedback from market attendees.
