Governance and Industry Best Practice

The ELFA develops industry guidelines and standards in order to promote transparency and establish industry best practices within the European leveraged finance market

Investor Voice

The ELFA provides a forum for investors to express their views with a single voice and see that these are reflected in initiatives that emerge from the ELFA

Market Engagement

The ELFA provides a platform for investors to engage with other market participants, including regulators, the press, lawyers, issuers, and underwriters

Reputation Management

The ELFA is a professional trade association formed to publicly represent the interests of the European leveraged finance buy-side to press, policy-makers, industry and the general public

Relationship and Consensus Building

The ELFA intermediates between investment firms and sell-side professionals to collaborate on pertinent issues affecting the proper functioning of the European leveraged finance market

Knowledge Building

The ELFA acts as a thought leader, delivering training and seminars to member firms together with representatives from the industry, in-house teach-ins, newsletters, topical reports and legal resources


The ELFA works to establish and enhance industry best practice through initiatives developed and executed by dedicated sub-committees based on goals set by the Board each year.

The European Leveraged Finance Association (ELFA) is hosting its second virtual workshop for advisers to sub-investment grade corporate borrowers, including law firms, sell side banks, private equity sponsors, and others, to discuss disclosure relating to ESG topics with senior fund managers in bonds and loans.

Diversity & Inclusion Committee: Facilitating Healthy Discussions – A Mental Health and Wellbeing Toolkit for Managers.

The Diversity & Inclusion Committee is delighted to welcome Jen Christie, founder of wellbeing and happiness consultancy Rise Well, for a training session aimed at managers looking to support the mental health and wellbeing of their team. This virtual training will advise attendees on how to structure conversations with their teams about their mental health and wellbeing. The training will provide guidance to engender confidence and empower managers in creating a psychologically safe space to support their team members – both reactively and proactively.
